Mended
2022
Size: 24” x24”
Palette: Pink, Red
Media: Acrylic-tinted methyl-cellulose paste on paper, mounted on wood board, and finished with high-gloss resin.
The Story: “Mended” is a collaged, mixed-media work inspired by Sashiko, a traditional Japanese mending technique that combines precise stitching and mindfulness to mend and beautify fabric.
This work began as paper painted using a loose and gestural process. The painted paper was cut into smaller pieces and collaged onto a wood panel in a geometric composition. The piece is finished with a high gloss resin, creating a heightened sense of dimensionality and vibrance.
Featured in “Still” Exhibition, juried and curated by Art Fluent, Boston, MA.
$1975
**Difficult to capture in a photo: The face of the piece is smooth and glossy.
